DSHS Lake Burien Speech Pathologist / Audiologist Specialist 2Location: King County – Burien, WA Be a part of something new! The Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility is being stood up by Washington state’s Department of Social and Health Services, the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Health Care Authority with generous support from MultiCare and Seattle Children’s Hospital. ? The Speech Pathologist/Audiologist Specialist 2 will plan, organize, and direct the Communication Disorders Services for identification and treatment of speech, language, and hearing-impaired individuals. The facility will open with 12 beds and 108 full-time employees with potential growth to 24 beds and 196+ full-time employees. ? The property was designed with children and youth in mind and features accessible spaces for onsite educational services and therapies, as well as access to outdoor space. The voluntary facility will initially serve 12 youth. ? This new therapeutic facility is slated to open in July to help youth, age 13 and older, with co-occurring intellectual and developmental disabilities who have complex needs such as mental illness or substance use disorder. Some of what you’ll do: xc2xb7 Confer with other staff to coordinate Communication Disorders Services with those of other programs Establish procedures for referrals to specialists within and outside the institution when appropriate. Establish procedures to provide consultative services to other departments/agencies.Conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetingsRepresent department at administrative and interdepartmental meetings. Supervise and instructs speech pathologists, audiologists, students and/or support staff. ? Who should apply: Professionals with A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders. OR Documentation of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association approved equivalent to the Master’s degree consisting of approved curriculum and student practicum hours. AND A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. NOTE: Five years of experience as a speech pathologist, audiologist, or equivalent is preferred. ? ?
